Documenting Forest Communities voices on Potential carbon trade deal
Mariam Grant is a dedicated female farmer and mother of three children in Southeastern Liberia. She cultivates cocoa and cassava on her land, which she deeply cherishes as it provides her with the means to support her family. The land is not just a source of livelihood for Mariam; it is her refuge, where she grows food, sells farm produce to pay for her children's education, and takes care of herself. The community also relies heavily on the land for various activities such as hunting, farming, and sourcing herbal medicine. The evergreen forest with its flowing rivers makes the land special, offering fresh air and fertile soil that brings joy and a sense of well-being to Mariam and her community.
