About 100 girls benefit ActionAid Young Urban Women’s Movement Capacity Building Training Boot Camp

Today, November 27, 2025  marks the beginning of something transformative. The Young Urban Women’s Movement Capacity Building Training & Boot Camp 2025 opened its doors with the energy and determination of girls ready to lead change.

The training is benefiting about 100 girls and women, drawn from across more than 15 communities from Montserrado, and Margibi Counties.

As part of the ongoing 16 Days of Activism, ActionAid Liberia is bringing young feminists together creating a space where their voices are not only heard, but strengthened. Throughout the camp, participants will dive into leadership development, build a resilient network of fearless young women, and learn how to protect themselves in an increasingly digital world.

This is in alignment with these themes, and the training is part of the series of activities and events marking this year's 16 days and the launch of our Urban Young Women's Movement.

The capacity building sessions are increasing girls' knowledge about digital safety, gender-based violence, online abuse, and other critical topics that are key to sharpening their understanding on advocating for the rights of other girls, women and marginalized.

This year’s global theme for the 16 days of Activism is “Unite to end Digital Violence Against All women and Girls.” While the national theme is “Unite to end Violence: Protecting all Women and Children in our Communities and Digital Space.”

The goals and objectives of two days girls capacity building training are to empower urban young women, young people and persons living with disabilities with knowledge on cyberbullying, cybersecurity, protecting social media platforms, and digital safety, provide practical tools, digital security tips, and reporting mechanism that helps young women protect themselves online and build confidence in digital spaces, raise awareness in communities and mobilize action against digital violence.

The first day of the training saw the executive director of Community care Health Initiatives (CHI) leading the session on Feminism and movement building, Help A Mother and New Born’s Executive director led the session on girls sexual and reproductive health and rights and body autonomy.

From unpacking the realities of advocacy to confronting digital violence, these girls are stepping into their power equipped, confident, and ready to transform their communities.
